Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I need a Puppy Paws, can't I just use a regular walker or daycare?
Sure you can. However, our services have been specifically tailored to assisting you in raising a well balanced dog. We're sure our expertise will be invaluable to you during your dogs puppyhood.

Does a puppy need someone to come in and take care of them during the day?
Puppies need socialization. Socialization includes play-time, individualized attention, and training reinforcement.

Is it okay to take my puppy outside for walks?
Not until they have all their shots. Although opinions vary on this topic, our opinion is that you shoud never put your dog in a position that could be harmful to it. Your puppy should receive its final vaccinations at about 4 months of age.

Will you feed and water my puppy?
Yes, we will follow your specific instructions on feeding and watering.

Will you help housebreak my puppy?
Yes. Once your puppy is old enough to go outside we will help curb train it, until then we will help manage any puppy messes without reinforcing newspaper/wee-wee pad training (Why don't I want to reinforce newspaper / wee-wee pad training?)

When do you come to care for my puppy?
Once you sign up we will work with you for more specific timing, however the first session takes place between 10:30am and 12:30pm. The second session will take place between 1:00 pm and 4 pm.

Do you have references I can contact?
Yes, we are proud of our accomplishments. At our introductory meeting we will provide you with at least 7 references of current clientele.

How do you get into my apartment?
If you have a doorman we ask that you to leave keys with them. Otherwise we can keep a copy of your keys with our staff.

Are you bonded & insured?
Yes, we are fully bonded and insured to protect you, your pet, and our staff. Our certificates are included in our introductory package. You should always ask for proof of these before entrusting your pet with any care provider. Reputable providers will happily provide you with proof of their policies.

I would like to get started, what's next?
We begin our relationships with an introductory meeting where we introduce ourselves to you and your puppy. At this meeting we bring a list of references, go over the details of what to expect if you hire us, and discuss with you your pup's needs.
